Caulking Tips
Caulking can be a challenge at times unless you are doing it right. It is important to follow certain steps when you plan on caulking. These five tips will make your life a whole lot easier!
1.Make sure to apply painters tape before you caulk. This guarantees straight lines.
2.It is important to chose the correct caulk for what you plan on doing! For siding, windows, and doors use polyurethane. For interior use latex. And for kitchen and bath- silicone!
3.Choosing the right caulk gun! Price is not of importance. Make sure your gun has ratchet action and a cradle.
4.Use your upper body when applying the caulk- it will help with the straight lines instead of using the wrists.
5.Cut the caulk tube tip off straight and not on an angle and try not to cut too much off! Try to keep it about 1 1/16 inches in diameter. This is perfect for most regular size jobs. For larger jobs keep another caulk gun handy.
