Accent Wall

Painting an accent wall is a great way to spice up any room! Here are some tips to keep in mind when deciding to paint with an accent wall.  First things first, make sure that you have found the focal point of the room. For example if there is a TV stand in the room, that wall can become the accent wall by being the focal point in the room. It can be tricky to decide what your focal point in the room is. In a article called, “Painting accent walls” Jamie Wiebe reports that it is important that the perfect accent wall has no windows or doors and is no more than one story tall. It is also important to chose certain patterns in the room and not main colors of large furniture. When painting the accent wall, make sure to use painters tape. This is important because accents walls are usually darker in color and mistakes can be more visible to the eye. Jamie writes it is beneficial to paint the accent wall twice by painting over the edges of the tape on the accent wall side with some of your current wall color. This is supposed to lock the tape to the wall and avoids drips and having any colors left behind! Painting an accent wall can be beneficial and pay off when you do it right, enjoy!
